If a deleted submission is still showing as a match in a Similarity Report, instructors can manually exclude the matching source from within the report to update the score.
- Select the red numerical Similarity score from the Similarity toolbar to open the Match overview side panel.
- Review the list of matches displayed in the panel.
- Select the arrow (>) to the right of the relevant Similarity percentage to view the match breakdown.
- Select the Exclude sources button at the bottom of the panel.
- Use the checkboxes to select the source(s) you want to remove. The button will display the number of chosen sources in brackets—for example, Exclude (1).
- Select Exclude to confirm. The report will regenerate and update the Similarity score.

- Open the Similarity side panel and select Sources.
- Select a highlight directly within the document to view that specific source card, or select a source card directly from the list.
- Select the Exclude source icon on the source card.
This action removes the highlighted text from the submission, excludes all matches from that source, and automatically updates the Similarity score.
