To allow students to self-enroll in a Turnitin class, instructors must provide them with two specific credentials: a Class ID and an Enrollment Key.
For instructors: Managing your class credentials
As an instructor, you are responsible for generating and distributing these credentials to your students.
Class ID: This is a unique, automatically generated number. You can find it on your main instructor homepage under the Class ID column, directly next to your class name.
Enrollment Key: This is a case-sensitive password (using letters, numbers, or both) that you choose when first creating the class.
Editing the Key: You can view or change your enrollment key at any time. Simply navigate to your class settings by clicking the gear/cog icon located in the Edit column of your class.
đź”’ Security best practice: Never post your Class ID and Enrollment Key on a publicly accessible website. To ensure only your students join the class, we highly recommend changing the enrollment key in your settings once your roster is fully enrolled. This will block any further unwanted enrollments.
For students: How to get your credentials
If you are a student trying to self-enroll into a Turnitin class, you will need both the Class ID and the Enrollment Key before you can access your assignment.
Contact your instructor: You must request these credentials directly from your instructor, or check your course syllabus/messaging board.
Note: Because these keys are private and set individually by instructors, Turnitin Technical Support cannot provide you with a Class ID or Enrollment Key under any circumstances.
